Sharon Lee Contento, 69, of Yorba Linda, California, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at Kaiser Permanente Anaheim. She was born on December 7, 1955, in Mesa, Arizona, to her parents, Gaylord and Shirley Neff. Her childhood included trips to the beautiful landscapes of Colorado and an indelible love for her grandmother, who was truly the mother figure in her life. Sharon was a radiant beacon of love, kindness, and compassion. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen, heard, and cared for – always ready to console, to give, and to understand. A devout Lutheran, Sharon’s faith was the foundation of her existence. She worshiped daily and found deep joy in her spiritual community. An active and devoted member of every community she was a part of, Sharon planned women’s retreats to Lake Arrowhead, hosted film discussion groups, participated in AI-Anon, and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mojave Chapter. She also contributed to many activities at Messiah Lutheran Church, where her presence was deeply valued. Sharon was the true definition of a survivor – overcoming countless medical obstacles with grace, courage, and resilience. Through her fortitude, she empowered her two sons and served as an enduring example of strength to her friends and peers. Her love, countless thoughts, and prayers became a protective embrace for her sons, providing them a bedrock in their journey to become good men. Sharon created a true sense of “home” by hosting and preparing for every Thanksgiving and Christmas with warmth, care, and devotion. Her home was a reflection of her spirit – beautiful, organized, and full of meaning. She lovingly preserved her family’s history, surrounding her sons with totems of memory that allowed them access to their shared personal history. Sharon also expressed herself through her rich artistic sensibilities. She wore vibrant outfits with beautiful color combinations, participated in “Artsy Fridays,” and crafted intricately constructed bracelets that she often gifted to loved ones. A proud cinephile, she enjoyed many films and the places they would take her. She had a fondness for true crime shows and kept up with daily news and politics. Always eager to learn and expand her personal knowledge, she played Words With Friends, learned Spanish, and explored new recipes in the kitchen. She is survived by her sons, Nathan and Blake, who will continue to share her light, love, and kindness with the world. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4861 Liverpool Street, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
