The Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Bhavanisagar, hosted an interactive session on the Seed Production System of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) on Wednesday (October 29, 2025), featuring eminent scientists from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. The event, headed by R. Umarani, Director, Seed Centre, TNAU, Coimbatore, facilitated exchange of ideas among international experts, researchers, stakeholders, and seed growers on strengthening the seed production system. N. Sakthivel, Professor and Head, ARS, Bhavanisagar, inaugurated the session. The discussions centred on global best practices, on-ground challenges, and avenues to enhance the seed production value chain. Delegates from Utrecht University, Srinivasulu Rajendran, Research Coordinator, and Fleur Kilwingen, shared their international expertise in seed production. K. Raja, professor, and C. Vanitha, associate professor, Seed Centre, TNAU, K. Malarkodi, professor, Seed Science and Technology, R. Vigneshwari, assistant professor, and scientists V. Sathyaseelan, K. Ramah, P. Sivasakthivelan, and S. Utharasu shared their insights.. A panel discussion and open interaction enabled seed growers and company representatives to discuss about genetic purity, plant protection, and post-harvest handling.
