Syrian top economic officials met on Tuesday with Syrian elite businessmen in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to explore new initiatives and strengthen economic cooperation between Syria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while also supporting the country’s development and reconstruction efforts. Ministers of Economy and Industry, Finance, and Communications and Information Technology attended the meeting, which brought together a large number of Syrian businessmen living and working in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Economy said in a statement. The meeting focused on economic cooperation between Syria and Saudi Arabia, exploring joint investment opportunities across various industrial, commercial, and service sectors. Attendees reviewed potential opportunities to support economic development and reconstruction in Syria. Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar emphasized the importance of “building solid economic partnerships with Saudi Arabia,” according to the statement. He also praised Saudi Arabia’s “vital role in supporting Syria’s reconstruction efforts and revitalizing its productive and commercial sectors.” This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 9th Edition of the Future Investment Initiative, hosted in Riyadh from October 27-30. Leaders from more than 20 countries, including the presidents of Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan, Mauritania, Bangladesh, and Cuba, as well as China’s president, are participating in the global gathering.
