The film and television fraternity came together in Mumbai on Monday, October 27, to pay tribute to veteran actor Satish Shah, who passed away on October 25 due to kidney failure. A prayer meet was held at Jalaram Hall in Juhu, where family, friends, and colleagues gathered to honour the beloved actor’s memory and legacy. His health suddenly deteriorated at home and he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital. He passed away at the hospital. Pandit called it a huge loss to the film and television industry. Sharing the news of Satish Shah’s demise, Ashoke Pandit wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure . He was rushed to Hinduja hospital where he breathed his last . A great loss to our industry . Om Shanti .” Satish Shah’s manager, Ramesh Kadatala, shared details of the actor’s final moments with ANI. He revealed that Shah was having lunch at his Bandra residence around 2 p.m. when he suddenly collapsed after taking a single bite. “The ambulance took about half an hour to arrive, and we transported him to the hospital, where he was declared dead,” the manager said. Remembering Satish Shah Over a remarkable career spanning more than four decades, Satish Shah earned a special place in the hearts of audiences, becoming a familiar face in both Indian cinema and television. A St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai alumnus, he further honed his craft at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, before making his screen debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan in 1978. Over the years, he appeared in more than 250 films, showcasing his versatility across genres. Shah achieved cult status with his unforgettable portrayal of Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in the 1983 classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, directed by Kundan Shah. He went on to deliver memorable performances in films such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, and Om Shanti Om.
