Sanju Samson's dream move from Rajasthan Royals (RR) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could fall through as it has now emerged that the 2008 winners have made a bold demand from the five-time champions ahead of the deadline for players to announce their retained players for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. While it has been widely reported that Samson has asked to leave the Royals, the Super Kings have now emerged as favourites to sign him. CSK legend Ravindra Jadeja could be going the other way in a move that will complete the Indian cricket veteran's comeback to the franchise he started his career with in 2008. While Jadeja and Samson earn the same salary (Rs. 18 crore) and it will be a straight swap between two premier Indian players, it has emerged that RR are not settling for just the 2008 IPL champion. As per a report by Cricbuzz, the Royals also want to sign Dewald Brevis from CSK in the same deal. Deal-Breaker For CSK For those unversed, Brevis came in as an injury replacement for Gujrapneet Singh mid-way through the 2025 season at a salary of Rs. 2.2 crore and made an instant impact. Since then he has taken the world stage on storm with South Africa and established himself among the best in the world in the shortest format of the game. As per the published information, CSK have no desire to give up Brevis after agreeing for a swap for Jadeja. RR's demand for Brevis has been described as a 'deal-breaker.' Few also suggested an all-cash deal, which will mean that CSK will have to release players worth Rs. 18 crore, while that amount will be added to the Royals' purse for the auction, likely to take place on 15 December.
