On Tuesday, Samsung finally announced the Galaxy XR after months of showing it off and doing demos at different events throughout the year. Originally shown off as ‘Project Moohan’, Galaxy XR is the first Android XR device to launch. Samsung partnered with Google and Qualcomm on this product, with Google creating the software platform and Qualcomm with the chipset – Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2. Samsung says that this is the “first step in Samsung’s long-term XR journey, with innovations to come across the full spectrum of XR form factors, including AI glasses.” Samsung Galaxy XR launches with a number of compatible apps out of the box. This includes the majority of Google’s apps, Samsung’s apps, and a few third-party apps. Like Google Photos, YouTube, Google Chrome, and much more. This is the first XR headset that also includes AI, with Galaxy AI and Gemini. The entire experience is controlled by Gemini, so you can share your screen with Gemini and ask questions about what you’re seeing as well. Galaxy XR has advanced sensors, cameras, and powerful hardware that allow it to track users’ head, hand, and eye movement and make these experiences truly immersive.
