Rwanda and Norway held their inaugural Political Consultations in Oslo, co-chaired by the Director General for Europe, Americas and International Organizations, Grace Nyinawumuntu, and Deputy Director General for Regional Affairs, Matthis Raustøl, of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Rwandan diplomacy, the meeting marked an important milestone in the deepening Rwanda-Norway partnership, ushering in a new phase of dialogue and cooperation. Rwanda and Norway cooperate on several fronts, including ICT and digitalization and development aid, with recent activities including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political consultations and a commitment from Norway to resettle 600 refugees from Rwanda. Norway’s development aid has historically focused on health and justice, and its support extends to regional projects like the Rusumo Falls hydropower plant. (End)
