The Ireland rugby team will don a special-edition jersey ahead of their eagerly awaited showdown with New Zealand in Chicago on 1 November. Andy Farrell’s squad have already arrived in the Windy City to begin preparations, hoping to recreate the magic of their historic 2016 triumph at Soldier Field — Ireland’s first-ever win over the All Blacks. Only Tadhg Furlong and Robbie Henshaw remain from that starting XV, but the current team will no doubt draw inspiration from that momentous occasion as they aim to avenge last year’s 23–13 defeat in Dublin. Rugby apparel giants Canterbury of New Zealand have unveiled the Ireland Pre-Game Jersey, a striking design inspired by Chicago itself. For the past 50 years, the Chicago River has been dyed bright green on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day — a tradition that inspired the jersey’s vivid design, blending Irish heritage with the energy of the city. The new release comes in three styles: a form-fitting Test Jersey, a slightly looser Pro Jersey, and a Junior version for younger fans. While some supporters have likened the swirling green pattern to the opening sequence of Breaking Bad, the jersey has already proved popular. “That is lovely, to be fair. Canterbury for the win,” one fan commented online. Ireland prop Andrew Porter praised the new kit, saying: “Once again, Canterbury has created a jersey that not only performs on the pitch but looks fantastic off it.
