Roma’s need for goals could see them bring in fresh attacking talent in January, spelling bad news for Ireland striker Evan Ferguson . The Italian giants have scored just nine times in nine Serie A and Europa League games so far this season - and Ferguson has not yet found the net in four starts and four substitute appearances. Reports in Italy say that manager Nottingham Forest is already looking at attacking options in the January window. And one name heavily linked with a move to the Italian capital is Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. The French striker only arrived at the City Ground in August, after his 18 goals in 34 league matches for Stade Rennais earned him a €28million move to the Premier League. He hasn’t yet started for Forest, however, and has managed just 136 minutes from seven games to date. According to respected Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma have earmarked Kalimuendo as a top target, giving new Forest boss Sean Dyche an early headache. Dyche is the third manager at the City Ground this season, after the departures of Nuno Espirito Santo in September and his replacement Ange Postecoglou earlier this week. The reports in Italy suggest that Forest would be open to a loan move, with an option to buy, as they cannot afford to complete the purchase outright this winter. Nottingham Live reports that Roma’s sporting director Frederic Massara is eager to bring Kalimuendo to the club, having worked with him at Stade Rennais. That would spell bad news for Ferguson, who is also at Roma on loan with a €40million option to buy the Irishman from Brighton. According to Corriere dello Sport: “The relationship between the two [Kalimuendo and Massara] is excellent and could become a catalyst for negotiations should the two needs, the need for a striker against Roma and the need for consistent playing time against the player, find common ground.” Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email .
