As we head into the final quarter of 2025, the NAACP Santa Clarita Branch is launching its fall membership drive — and we’re calling on our neighbors, friends and local leaders to stand with us. From now through December, we invite all Santa Clarita Valley residents to become members, renew their membership, or sponsor a student or senior to join. Why does this matter now? Because our work is far from finished. The NAACP is committed to the advancement of civil rights for all people, especially those too often marginalized or unheard. Santa Clarita, like communities across the country, continues to face challenges that require informed, united and persistent advocacy — whether it’s ensuring equitable education, fair housing, criminal justice reform, or promoting civic engagement and voter protection. But we can’t do it alone. Membership is the lifeblood of our branch. It gives us not only strength in numbers, but also the resources and representation to act locally and connect nationally. When you join the NAACP Santa Clarita, you’re joining a legacy that spans more than a century — and a future that depends on your voice. In recent years, our branch has hosted forums, supported youth leadership development, and advocated for inclusive policies in schools and local government. We’ve partnered with faith leaders, educators, law enforcement, and fellow organizations to build bridges where others seek to build walls. But now we need you — your time, your ideas, your energy. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the community, a student or a retiree, a business owner or an artist, your voice matters. And together, our voices are louder. Joining is easy: visit www.naacpscv.org to sign up online, or stop by one of our membership events throughout the fall. Annual membership starts at just $30 — a small investment for lasting impact. Let’s build a Santa Clarita where equity is not a dream, but a shared commitment. The time to act is now. Rlynn Smith-Thomas
