Retired AEW star's return officially announced; set for major new role

An AEW star stepped away from the squared circle and retired from in-ring action last year. However, his return was officially announced, but in a different capacity. The star in question is Marko Stunt. He made his debut for AEW at the inaugural Double or Nothing pay-per-view and wrestled for the company till his release in 2022. Stunt also came back to All Elite Wrestling in 2024 for a one-off match against Jack Perry, before announcing his retirement on social media in November.Stunt took this big step after being advised by doctors to prioritize his long-term health. Following that, he started working as a car salesman for Homer Skelton Ford in Olive Branch, Mississippi. However, the former AEW star is now returning to the wrestling world.Memphis Wrestling took to their X to announce that Marko Stunt has joined their roster in a full-time on-screen role. Alongside that, Stunt will also serve as a coach and mentor for their young talent at the Memphis Wrestling WrestleCenter. Furthermore, his first appearance will take place on November 22 on WMC Action News 5 Plus, WBBJ Jackson, THV11+ in Little Rock, Triller TV, and YouTube."Memphis Wrestling is proud to announce Marko Stunt is joining its roster in a full-time on-screen role. Marko Stunt is a hometown boy from the Memphis area whom gained worldwide popularity on All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Marko will bring his notoriety and unique skillset to our television program while also also serving as a mentor and coach at the Memphis Wrestling WrestleCenter."Former AEW star Marko Stunt revealed major injuries forced him into retirementMarko Stunt recently stated that he broke his back during a match on the indies after his last AEW match, where he cracked his L5. Moreover, he had a series of concussions and even got knocked out during a match in All Elite Wrestling. The back injury led the doctors to ask him to retire or risk paralysis."I ended up going to the doctor the next day because I could barely walk... I'd actually broken my back. My L5 was cracked and had a chip in it," Stunt revealed. "So that I've still got a piece, a piece of my spine just floating around in there somewhere. Doctors did advise me to go ahead and hang up the boots. And so I did reluctantly." Stunt said the decision was for his 16-month-old daughter, as doctors warned him he could "end up getting paralyzed or something... which is what they said is very likely to happen if I were to bump wrong."
