Collect those quarters for pinball, exercise your gaming fingers and prepare to go back in time for RetroMania. The creators of Vernon Comic Con have created RetroMania to bring people back in time on Saturday, Nov. 8. “After a few years of requests, we created a fun retro event,” said Peter Kaz, producer/host of Millennium Valley Productions (which brings Comic Con to town every May). A time machine of treasures, RetroMania is for all vintage lovers, antique seekers, collectors, and retro enthusiasts at the Vernon Rec Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Whether you’re on the hunt for rare toys, vintage clothing, antiques, classic comic books, old coins, retro board games/video games and consoles, vintage jewelry, CD;s, DVD’s, vinyl records, collectable Pokemon and sports cards etc., sports memorabilia, classic decor, or nostalgic pop culture memorabilia, RetroMania has everything retro under one roof,” said Kaz. A musical backdrop from DJ Lunchboxx will fill the room with classics, plus there is an arcade room. Play pinball and other games for just 25 cents and compete for the highest score contest, with prizes, glory and retro bragging rights available. “Bring your quarters and let the games begin,” said Kaz. A Classic Computer Corner and even retro video consoles are also on hand. Admission is $5 with kids 12 and under free but everyone is urged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank. Cosplay will also be in full force for anyone wanting to dress up.
