Red Zone Plus/Minus Rankings Going Into Week 11

In This Story Key Points The top four and bottom four Red Zone Plus/Minus NFL teams remain unchanged this week. Baltimore Ravens have improved significantly, moving from last to No. 24 after a winning streak. Two sub-.500 teams have positive plus/minus; two winning teams have negative plus/minus. The top four teams in this week’s Red Zone Plus/Minus — Athlon Sports’ exclusive metric that combines NFL teams’ efficiency in the red zone on both offense and defense — remain unchanged from this time last week. That includes the Green Bay Packers at No. 4, despite their loss Monday night at home vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. Likewise, the bottom four teams in the plus-minus rankings are the same as last week. The top 10 teams in the rankings all have winning records and the bottom 10 all have losing records. One of those losing teams, however, is rising quickly. One month ago, the Baltimore Ravens were dead last with a red zone plus/minus of -66. Riding a three-game winning streak and suddenly one game out of first place in the AFC North, the Ravens have climbed to -33. They are ranked No. 24 with a bullet. Here’s a reminder how the Red Zone Plus/Minus is calculated: Red-zone drives resulting in a touchdown earn six points. Field goals earn three points. If a defense allows a red-zone touchdown, that’s minus-six, and a red-zone field goal allowed is minus-three. A few other observations from the updated Red Zone Plus/Minus: Two sub-.500 teams have a positive plus/minus: Arizona Cardinals (3-6, +12), Atlanta Falcons (3-6, +3). Two teams with winning records have a negative plus/minus: Jaguars (5-4, -18), Steelers (5-4, -27). Two divisions don’t have any teams with a positive plus/minus. The best team in the NFC East is the Philadelphia Eagles at 0; the best ranking in the AFC North is the Cleveland Browns at -12. The Eagles score touchdowns on 80% of their red-zone drives, which is best in the NFL. Problem is, they’ve only had 21 red-zone drives this season, which is tied for second-fewest. The New England Patriots have allowed TDs on 73.9% of red-zone drives, though they’ve only allowed opponents into the red zone 23 times, tied for fourth-fewest. Here’s how all 32 NFL teams rank in Red Zone Plus/Minus going into Week 11: Drive stats provided by Jim Armstrong.
