President Trump said everything is good for Americans, except we need to bring down beef prices. Different citizens are the ones I chat with at their home doors. They are concerned about high cost of groceries/food, child care, health care coverage and housing costs, whether all of these or choosing a couple items. Whether for them or family or neighbors, most have concerns with these day-to-day issues. Then some people talk about gasoline, heating fuel, electric fees, property taxes, water bills. The cost of a pair of corduroy pants from LL Bean is $10 higher than a year ago. Food items increase by 50 cents or a dollar, not a five- or 10-cent increase. It is all too much of a financial strain on people’s incomes. Child care is too costly if one can find a provider. Providers need to earn a living, but the parents cannot afford to pay more than their income allows. Seniors face a $21.50 increase in Medicare premiums for 2026 and supplemental insurance will cost more. An insurance advisor said don’t worry, COLA will take care of the Medicare and supplemental increases. He did not say anything about prescriptions, food, rent or property ownership, vehicle, clothing and other necessary costs and their increased fees. If we all lived in the White House, we would not have a problem with making our incomes meet expenses. We could each enjoy the $300 million ballroom while hobnobbing with the wealthy.
