Monadnock Peer Support receives grant to create support group for veterans

Monadnock Peer Support (MPS) has announced the receipt of a $1,000 community grant from Service Credit Union and the Robert Irvine Foundation. The funding will directly support the launch of a new program called Veterans Support Group Breakfast, which is designed to bring together local veterans for connection, conversation and community healing. The veterans breakfast will offer a welcoming space for veterans to share experiences, build camaraderie and find mutual support among peers who understand the challenges of life after service. The group will meet regularly at the Monadnock Peer Support Center in Keene, with breakfast provided at no cost to participants. The dates and times for the group will be announced later. “Veterans often face unique mental health challenges that can feel isolating,” Frank White, group facilitator and veteran, said. “This breakfast group isn’t just about a meal, it’s about creating a space where veterans can talk openly, laugh, share stories, and support one another. I’ve seen firsthand how much strength comes from that sense of brotherhood and belonging.” Founded in 1995, Monadnock Peer Support was created as an alternative that complements and supplements the traditional mental health system. More information about Monadnock Peer Support and its programs can be found at MonadnockPSA.org or by calling 603-352-5093.
