Ravens Coach Appears to Draw 'Most' Interest for Oklahoma State Job

On Sept. 23, Oklahoma State fired head coach Mike Gundy after a 19-12 loss to Tulsa in Week 3. The defeat dropped the Cowboys to 1-2. The Cowboys are one of eight Power 4 programs looking for a new head coach in 2026. Given how October went for big-name teams like Florida, LSU and Penn State, more schools are likely to join that list in November. He noted that “preliminary conversations” have started, but the program does not plan to start conducting official interviews until November. Oklahoma State isn’t just looking through the resumes of college coaches. Nakos suggested that the top target for OSU is Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. “Among the names On3 continues to hear the most about from industry sources is Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken,” Nakos wrote. “It’s unclear at this point what his level of interest is in returning to Stillwater. “The former Georgia offensive coordinator has two stints at Oklahoma State in his career.” Monken served as OSU’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2002 to 2004. He returned to Stillwater as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for 2011 and 2012. Since leaving OSU, Monken has served as the offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and Ravens in the NFL. He was Georgia’s offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2022, helping the Bulldogs win back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022. Monken, 59, has previous head coaching experience at the college level. He coached Southern Miss from 2013 to 2015. He went 13-25 with the Golden Eagles. Monken would be an intriguing hire for OSU to boost the offense. He helped Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson win the NFL MVP in 2023. The Ravens still have a possibility of making the playoffs. However, Baltimore is 2-5 before they play on the road against the Miami Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football.” There’s a possibility Monken could be available to take over duties at OSU early in January if the Ravens miss the playoffs–and if there is mutual interest between the Cowboys and Monken.
