Raiders Predicted to Cut Ties With Key Figure in Bold Move

The Las Vegas Raiders are 2-7 in Year 1 of the Pete Carroll era. With this 2025 NFL season already over for the Silver and Black, speculation on what the Silver and Black will do over the offseason is emerging. NFL teams aren’t shy about cutting a process after one year if they see that a situation simply isn’t working. As a result, could Carroll’s time with Las Vegas come to an end after one season? If this season hits rock bottom and there are no positive signs to hold on to, whether it’s rookies starting to hit their stride or the play improving, Carroll could be done with the Raiders. However, NBC Sports NFL insider Mike Florio believes Carroll will survive, and the coach to get the axe will be Chip Kelly. “I feel like it’s not sustainable between the two of them,” Florio said on the November 7 edition of “Pro Football Talk.” “And frankly, between the two, all due respect to Chip Kelly, I’m keeping Pete Carroll. I’m keeping Pete Carroll because Pete Carroll has accomplished things in the NFL. Chip Kelly has accomplished nothing… “Chip Kelly has done nothing to prove that he’s got NFL chops. I was surprised they hired him. And again, was it a Brady hire? Was it a Brady recommendation? I don’t know. But I feel like when this season ends, one of those two guys is going to be gone between Carroll and Kelly. And my guess is it is gonna be Kelly.” Will Mark Davis Lean on Tom Brady for Raiders Changes? Whether it’s Kelly or both he and Carroll go, Florio believes that Raiders owner Mark Davis will lean on minority owner Tom Brady to make any personnel decision. “I wonder what Tom Brady thinks because I know this Mark Davis, and for a guy who on the surface looks like he has very little self-awareness, he has extreme self-awareness as it relates to football,” Florio added. “He knows he doesn’t know a damn thing about it. He knows he needs someone to tell him what he should do. “And I think Tom Brady’s going to be the guy who goes and says to Mark Davis, ‘We need this, we need that, we need this, we need that.’ And one of the things that Brady may say is, ‘Hey, we tried it with Pete. We need someone else.'” Chip Kelly Under Fire Amid Raiders Offensive Inconsistencies With the Raiders’ offense sputtering, attention has shifted toward Kelly, particularly after Brock Bowers played a limited role in the game plan. That was surprising given his standout performance in Week 9, when he tallied 12 catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following the 10-7 defeat to the Denver Broncos on November 6, former Raiders wideout James Jones criticized Kelly for failing to get Bowers more involved, noting that the rookie tight end finished with just one catch for 31 yards. “Offensively, we got to do better,“ Jones said on “Raiders Postgame Live.“ “I know I come up here every single week and ask, ‘What’s our identity? ‘ I don’t know. Chip don’t know neither. That’s the problem. We don’t know if we want to run it, and we don’t know if we want to throw it. What’s our identity? “… I expected to see more of Brock Bowers. We’ve got a lot of young players out there, and I know Brock’s young, but he’s our superstar. We can’t depend on young players to win primetime games like this. Yes, he got some opportunities, but I’m more concerned about Brock Bowers. How do you go into a game as an offensive coordinator and not find a way to get the ball to him? He’s the best player on the field.”
