Proteas Women to face England in ICC World Cup semi after Australia loss

The South African Women’s Cricket team suffered another embarrassing batting collapse. This time in their final round-robin match of the ICC’s Women’s Cricket World Cup against Australia in Indore. The Proteas who were sent into bat, were skittled for a paltry 97 runs inside 25 overs. Leg-spinner Alana King was the destroyer-in-chief, finishing with figures of seven for just 18 runs in seven overs. Australia reached the target of 98 in the 17th over for the loss of three wickets. Both teams have already qualified for the semifinals of the tournament. Australia who finished top of the log and will play fourth-placed India in the second semifinal on Thursday, while the Proteas Women will clash with England in the other semifinal on Wednesday. 🚨 MATCH RESULT 🚨 An unfortunate result against the defending champions as #TheProteas Women’s winning streak comes to an end. 🏏🇿🇦 Valuable lessons learned as we look ahead to the Semi-Final next week. 👏💪#Unbreakable #CWC25 pic.twitter.com/1gHSmxF7Qw — Proteas Women (@ProteasWomenCSA) October 25, 2025
