Princess Beatrice's husband pictured out of the country amid Prince Andrew chaos

Princess Beatrice 's husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has travelled to Malaysia as questions mount over Prince Andrew ’s financial arrangements at Royal Lodge. The property developer, 41, confirmed his location by posting a photo of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, including the Exchange 106 tower, on his Instagram Story. It is not known whether Princess Beatrice, 37, accompanied him but she was photographed earlier this week driving into Royal Lodge in Windsor, which has suggested that she has remained in the UK. Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s Instagram post coincides with a very turbulent time for Beatrice’s parents. Last week, her father Prince Andrew confirmed he would no longer use his royal titles following discussions with King Charles . On the same day, it was announced that her mother, Sarah Ferguson, would also cease using the title “Duchess of York” in public. While the dukedom remains legally valid, both have agreed to stop using their styles in official and public communications. Andrew relinquished his use of the Duke of York title and royal honours amid the long-running fallout of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the publication of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir. He will retain his title of Prince, as he is entitled to as per his birthright. The titles and honours he will no longer use include his wedding day titles - The Duke of York, the Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh; his Knighthood as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO); his Garter role as a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. He will also not be able to wear the Garter robes he was seen in at Charles's coronation. Although Andrew is relinquishing his dukedom, he still technically retains it - and it can only be removed by an Act of Parliament, should his brother issues Letters Patent. The new developments come as political attention intensifies around the Duke of York’s living arrangements. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed support for MPs seeking a parliamentary review of Andrew’s occupation of Royal Lodge, including calls for the Prince to answer questions directly in Parliament. Reports this week revealed that Andrew has not paid rent on the 30-room property since signing a 75-year lease in 2003. Although he paid a substantial premium at the time, the agreement - which is often described as a “peppercorn rent” - means he has not made regular payments for more than 20 years. The renewed focus on Andrew’s finances and the decision to drop royal titles have reignited debate over the future of Royal Lodge, which sits within Great Windsor Park. Mr Mapelli Mozzi, who is the founder of the property and design company Banda, frequently travels for business. He did not provide any details about the purpose or duration of his trip to Southeast Asia. Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi married in Windsor in 2020 and maintain a low public profile with their daughters, Sienna and Athena. Neither of them has commented publicly on the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew’s residence or the recent decisions regarding royal titles.
