Some famous friends will be turning up for Michael B. Jordan when he receives the 39th annual American Cinematheque Award next month. Ben Affleck, Ryan Coogler, Bradley Cooper are among those tapped to honor him. Oscar winners Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali, and Octavia Spencer will also be part of ceremony, as well as Delroy Lindo, Phylicia Rashad, Tessa Thompson, and Rocky and Creed producer Irwin Winkler all taking the stage as presenters. Additionally NBC Universal Entertainment And Studios Chairman Donna Langley will present the Motion Picture Association’s Charles H. Rivkin with The Power of Cinema Award, presented by Hill Valley. The show will also feature a special musical performance by Miles Caton, Ludwig Göransson, and Raphael Saadiq, presenting “I Lied to You” from the critically acclaimed film Sinners. Jordan’s Cinematheque honor comes on the heels of his performance as twin brothers Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler’s critical and box office phenomenon Sinners earlier this year. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The event is an annual fundraiser for the American Cinematheque, a non-profit organization that continues its year-round programming at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, Los Feliz 3 Theatre in Los Feliz, and Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The Power of Cinema Award, presented by Hill Valley, honors an individual or organization whose actions through storytelling have advanced the significance and social relevance of film in today’s modern culture.
