A TV news reporter charged with first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of her elderly mother allegedly waited for officers while caked in blood. Angelynn 'Angie' Mock previously worked as a morning news anchor for Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, but has now made headlines of her own for a horrific reason. On the morning of Friday, October 31, shortly before 8 am, officers with the Wichita Police Department responded to a blood-soaked scene, with Mock, 47, said to have been standing outside the home she shared with her mother, Anita Avers, who was found unresponsive in a bed with multiple stab wounds. Anita, 80, who'd worked as a marriage and family therapist, was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:26am. Mock, who apparently had cuts on her hands when authorities arrived, was reportedly also treated for unspecified injuries at the hospital before her arrest. The formerly successful journalist, who'd worked for Fox 2 from March 2011 to February 2015, was booked into Sedgwick County Jail on a first-degree murder charge. As per Sedgewick County public records , Mock is currently being held on a $1 million bond, and, at the time of writing, it's not immediately clear whether or not she has entered a plea or retained an attorney. Her charge is currently listed as "active." Neighbour Alyssa Castro told KAKE News, an ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas: "There was a woman who came and approached our vehicle with blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911... I asked her if she was okay, and she was pretty shooken up and she seemed scared, and she just ran off... I'm just glad that we were able to help, you know what I mean? Like you never know what anyone's going through. This happened randomly, but as long as we were able to get 911 and see what we can do, that's all I really care about." According to this same publication, 911 dispatchers informed emergency responders that the "calling party stabbed the mother to save herself." At the time of writing, authorities have not released any additional details in what has been described as a domestic dispute. As detailed on her LinkedIn profile, Mock, who also once held positions at Oklahoma City's KOKH FOX 25, had been working in sales at a data management software firm at the time of her arrest. Mock had started out in her media career as a sports reporter, working for small stations in the Midwest before finding wider success. She pursued a career change in February 2015.
