Senior Iraqi police officials also took part in the discussions between the two sides. Lieutenant General Al-Halfi warmly welcomed the Somali delegation and invited Brigadier General Asad for further talks to deepen cooperation between the two nations. Somalia and Iraq maintain long-standing diplomatic and religious ties, strengthened through their shared membership in the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the United Nations (UN). The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by both countries to enhance their security and defense capacities as they continue to recover from years of conflict and instability. Officials described the new partnership as one aimed at improving the professionalism and effectiveness of both police forces, with future joint training programs and workshops expected to follow.
