CrossCountry customers have been advised that a normal timetable will be reinstated on Saturday following the suspension of planned industrial action by the RMT union. A full train service on CrossCountry routes will operate this Saturday, although planned engineering work will mean changes to some journeys, including no trains calling between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International on Saturday or Sunday. The rail provider said Saturday was expected to be a busy day for many town and city centres across the CrossCountry network, with a combination of planned engineering works and pre-Christmas events expected to draw large crowds. CrossCountry’s Managing Director, Shiona Rolfe, said: “We are pleased that RMT has suspended planned strike action this Saturday, November 1, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board. "Thanks must also go to colleagues who have worked tirelessly to reinstate a full timetable on Saturday, to make sure people can get to where they need to be. “Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys. so if you’re planning to travel this Saturday, please check your journey before setting off.” Passengers planning to travel with CrossCountry on Saturday should check their journey with National Rail Enquiries or on the CrossCountry website.
