Pit Bull Falls in Love With Foster Dog—Internet Has Perfect Solution

A rescue pit bull falling in love with his owner’s new foster dog has melted hearts online, leaving many TikTok users insisting that they need to stay together. In September, dog owner Ashlie Asquini, 31, added another pup to her household when she took in Piggy, a pit bull mix in need of fostering. For the first few weeks, Piggy had to isolate away from Asquini’s other dogs because she had an upper respiratory infection that she needed to overcome. Once she was feeling better, Piggy finally got to meet her new foster siblings, including Mickelson, the 4-year-old pit bull terrier. Asquini, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, told Newsweek that Piggy and Mickelson became “immediate friends” and they started playing “until they both passed out.” It may have taken some time before they could meet, but the duo has since formed an undeniable bond. Now, Mickelson and Piggy are inseparable, and they play, sleep, and even eat together. They follow each other around the house all day long looking for any opportunity to be close to each other,” Asquini said. On October 12, Asquini shared a video on TikTok (@ashuhlie) showing Mickelson “falling in love with his foster sister.” The video shows the two pups lying side by side, with Mickelson resting his head on Piggy’s body. The adorable video has delighted internet users, and it’s gone viral with over 375,500 views and more than 72,000 likes at the time of writing. Asquini continued: “Mickelson grew up in the shelter, and because of this he’s struggled to socialize appropriately with other dogs. He is usually very hyper and scares other dogs with his enthusiasm. In this moment, it felt like he found a dog that understood him and he felt fully comfortable with. Likewise, I was happy Piggy felt so comfortable around him as well.” After seeing the bond that Mickelson and Piggy have formed so quickly, Asquini has been left wondering whether her foster pup has indeed found her forever home. Asquini told Newsweek that she’s “in talks” to discuss the prospect of keeping Piggy permanently. Piggy is “so good” for Mickelson, and keeping them together may just be the perfect solution. Asquini also noted that it works out well for her 12-year-old pit bull named Spike because he now gets to “relax in his retirement” as his younger brother is entertained by Piggy instead. Asquini has owned pit bulls for 12 years and has even spent the last four years fostering them too. By documenting her experiences on social media, she hopes to inspire people to give the breed a chance and adopt their very own four-legged bestie. “It has always been my dream to show the real side of pit bulls and advocate for them, so I am very happy that my video could do that. I hope that their reputation starts to change into a positive one because they really are the gentlest, most loyal and loving dogs,” Asquini said. The video of Mickelson falling in love with Piggy has generated more than 1,400 comments on TikTok already—and everyone is saying the same thing. One comment reads: “Please keep her, please adopt her, he will be HEARTBROKEN.” Another TikTok user wrote: “Now you have to keep her. I don’t make the rules, that’s just how love works.” Another person joked: “Technically it’s HIS first foster fail.” While one commenter added: “That foster is not going anywhere! Divine love comes in perfect timing.” Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? We want to see the best ones!
