Game recognises game, and one football legend came face to face with another on Wednesday night in the Champions League. It wasn't quite the embrace anyone expected to see after Manchester City's demolition job of German giants Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad. But eagle-eyed Irish sports fans were quick to realise that the man embracing iconic City boss Pep Guardiola was none other than Galway GAA manager and legend Padraic Joyce . Cameras captured the moment Guardiola encountered Galway senior football boss Joyce, a Manchester United fan who has a signed Eric Cantona jersey among his memorabilia collection, alongside his family. Unfortunately for Joyce, and perhaps fortunately for his kids Charlie and Jodie, they appear to be City fans and were pictured pitchside in sky blue before posing for a picture with Guardiola and Joyce's wife Tracey. One X user quipped that Pep would step into the shoes of coach John Divilly, who resigned back in September. They wrote: "Pep to replace Divo on the Galway coaching ticket!".
