COLUMBUS, Ohio – Grading the Penn State football team on its 38-14 loss to Ohio State Saturday at Ohio Stadium: Quarterbacks C: Ethan Grunkemeyer again showed pocket presence in a difficult environment, made some nice throws and missed a few. Running backs C: Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton accounted for 132 of Penn State’s 200 total yards and both of its touchdowns. Receivers D: Freshman Koby Howard was the only wide receiver to make a catch longer than 18 yards, and Khalil Dinkins had the only two catches by the tight ends. Offensive linemen D: Allen and Singleton averaged less than 3.5 yards per carry, and Grunkemeyer was sacked four times. Defensive linemen D: Ohio State rushed for 164 yards and quarterback Julian Sayin often had an eternity to throw the ball downfield without being sacked. Linebackers C: Amare Campbell had a team-high eight tackles and freshman Alex Tatsch had two stops in limited action. Defensive backs F: Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate burned the secondary for 11 catches, 247 yards and three touchdowns. Special teams B: Gabe Nwosu averaged 49.8 yards on six punts and Ryan Barker made both of his extra points. Coaches D: Penn State failed on three keys: outrushing Ohio State, throwing the ball downfield and preventing Buckeyes receivers from getting behind the secondary.
