Paul McCartney and His Wife Linda Once Sent A Journalist Their Baby’s Poop; Here’s Why

Paul McCartney, the bassist and keyboardist in the English rock band The Beatles, once did something unexpected to a journalist who had betrayed his trust. His partner in crime was his late wife, Linda McCartney. Together, the couple had sent a piece of their baby’s poop to the British journalist, who had published a negative review of the concert that he did not even attend. According to the new book Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, written by the legendary musician himself, drummer Denny Seiwell opened up about the incident that occurred in 1972. In that year, Paul and Linda were arrested in Sweden for marijuana possession. That’s when a British journalist approached the band, telling them that he would be writing a feature story about their lives on the road and wouldn’t review their music. The Journalist Gave Wings A Negative Review Believing him, Paul allowed him backstage and gave him access to the sound check and even the band’s tour bus. According to the 82-year-old drummer, the journalist returned home without even catching Wings’ concert, then published an article a week later. Instead of writing about the band’s behind-the-scenes moments as promised, he published a negative review of the concert and criticised their lifestyle. Paul And Linda McCartney Couriered Their Baby’s Poop To The Journalist It is then that Paul and Linda took matters into their own hands and decided to get revenge in a rather unconventional way. At the time, the couple’s daughter, popular fashion designer Stella McCartney, was a baby. According to Denny’s account, the couple took one of baby Stella’s dirty diapers, placed the poop in a soap dish, wrapped it, and couriered it to the journalist. “I don’t care if they want it to be known or not. I thought it was the perfect response to a crude British pressman,” he said. FYI, Paul and Linda married in 1969 and welcomed Stella in 1971. They remained until Linda’s death in 1998 due to cancer. Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run features over 40 hours of new and archival interviews of the former band members, including Paul and Linda. “I’m so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book. Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments, and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better, I thought, ‘OK, this is really good.’ We proved Wings could be a really good band,” Paul said in an Instagram post as he revealed that his book is now available.
