The legendary quarterback said of his current Patriots successor on the call:“I might’ve made a decent career myself if I could do some of the things that kid can do.”While Brady’s statement might sound a little flattering, Drake Maye is already matching records set by Brady as the Patriots’ quarterback. Following his performance in the Patriots’ 31-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, the franchise announced Maye has matched one of Brady’s numerous records with them.Maye completed 21 of 23 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns, earning a 135.9 passer rating against the Titans. He matched Brady’s record for the most games (4) in a season with at least 200 passing yards, two touchdowns, and a 135 passer rating.Brady set the record in 2007, when he was already a well-established NFL quarterback. Maye, on the other hand, is reaching the milestone only in his second year in the league, with only 20 games in.Drake Maye’s 2025 campaign so farThe Patriots are 6-2 this season, thanks in no small measure to Drake Maye’s consistent top performance under center. In eight games this season, Maye has thrown for more than 2000 yards and 15 touchdowns with a 75.2% completion rate. It is no surprise then that he has been getting MVP shouts, especially from the Patriots fans. The Patriots' home crowd chanted “M V P” on Sunday as Maye led the team to a 32-13 win over the Cleveland Browns. Talking about the fans’ support and MVP chants after the game, the second-year quarterback said:“I didn’t hear it… But the fans have been awesome all season. Has been really cool to see the difference from last year. It’s been a journey.”The Patriots, on a five-game winning streak, are the favorites to win their next game against the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.
