Liverpool are in crisis. There is no other way to describe it: what seemed like a little blip for the Premier League champions has turned into, well, a monster mess. They have gone from romping to a Premier League title to losing week in week out despite spending £450m in the summer. It's not even just the results, but rather the performances. They get worse by the game. Nobody saw this coming, but here we are. The champions were outsmarted in every department by Brentford on Saturday evening, and the fact that they only lost by one goal was rather lucky. Brentford could have scored five or six. It was their worst defeat of the lot, and they lost to rivals Manchester United at home the week prior. Yep, the performance really was that bad. Nobody knows when things will start to turn around for the Reds, but I imagine Arne Slot will be hoping the end of the rancid run starts tonight. But they are playing Crystal Palace, a team who have caused Slot a whole host of problems since he arrived on Merseyside. It could be another long night for the Dutchman and his team.
