Patrick Mahomes Reveals One Wish for Travis Kelce Amid 13th NFL Season

Travis Kelce tied the Kansas City Chiefs’ touchdown record with Patrick Mahomes’ third-quarter pass in a 28-7 win. Mahomes called Kelce “the true Chiefs’ Chief” and credited him for team culture. Mahomes saved Kelce’s record-tying ball, hoping for another milestone later this season. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes played a vital role in Travis Kelce’s historic moment on Monday night. It was Mahomes who threw a touchdown pass to Kelce in the third quarter of the Chiefs’ 28-7 win over the Commanders, which marked the All-Pro tight end’s 83rd career TD. With that score, Kelce tied Chiefs icon Priest Holmes for the most career touchdowns in franchise history. It was an incredible moment for Kelce as the 36-year-old added another feather in his cap. Mahomes was happy to share the moment with his teammate, and the Chiefs QB revealed after the game that he has one wish for Kelce. Kelce is now in his 13th season with the Chiefs. The 10-time Pro Bowler considered retirement in the offseason before ultimately deciding to return for what could potentially be his final season in the NFL. Mahomes had nothing but high praise for Kelce during his postgame press conference. “He’s just the true Chiefs’ Chief,” Mahomes said of Kelce. “He’s the guy that’s been here through the whole thing, being here with Coach [Andy] Reid the entire time. “He helped set the culture of what it means to play for Coach Reid and for Kansas City. I was able to come in and have that guy to rely on.” Mahomes gave Kelce another assist after the latter’s historic TD. Mahomes picked up the ball as Kelce celebrated, and the Chiefs QB made sure to secure the keepsake for his buddy. Mahomes explained his gesture to the press, while also revealing his one hope for Kelce this season. “He’s breaking all the records now. He’s all about the team, so I wanted to make sure he gets that [ball],” Mahomes continued. “Hopefully, we can get another ball for him later in the season when he breaks the record.”
