Mahomes and Kelce lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 5-3 record, eyeing their fourth straight win. The duo opened 1587 Prime, a high-end steakhouse in Kansas City, drawing mixed public reactions. Fans criticized the $800 dinner price, despite positive reviews, calling it overpriced. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 5-3 record heading into Sunday’s highly anticipated matchup against the Buffalo Bills. After a slow start to the season that saw them lose their first two games, the Chiefs have improved significantly of late, securing wins in their last three contests. Mahomes is having another big year, with the two-time All-Pro quarterback already recording 189-of-282 completed passes (67.0%) for 2,099 yards. He currently leads the league in passing touchdowns with 17. Kelce, on the other hand, has 37 catches in eight games played for 474 yards and three TDs. Mahomes and Kelce’s chemistry has spilled over beyond the football field. In September, the two NFL superstars opened their own restaurant, 1587 Prime. Together with famed hospitality and restaurant company Noble 33, Mahomes and Kelce established a high-end steakhouse at the heart of Kansas City. Jason Kelce, the brother of the Chiefs tight end, recently made his first trip to 1587 Prime. The Philadelphia Eagles icon had nothing but praise for the restaurant, which he described as “fantastic” and “very well done.” Not everyone is happy about 1587 Prime, though. More than a few fans have shared their qualms about the steakhouse on social media after coming across a restaurant review from Business Insider. While the writer spoke highly of her experience at 1587 Prime, some readers could not help but focus on the fact that the dinner cost $800. “Yeah bro love my team and the boys but this is an absolute scam for easily impressed folks. Or journalists who promote it with company money lol,” a comment on Reddit read. “If you have all that money to waste, donate it to the ones that are struggling to pay their gas bill or randomly pay for someone’s groceries. I love my Chiefs but the majority of us, live in the real world not fantasy land,” another said. “Don’t spend your hard earned cash on the overpriced restaurant owned by a billionaire’s 9-digit fiancé and the star QB who will earn north of half a billion by his career’s end. Spend it on something worthwhile,” a user posted. “I sleep super comfy at night knowing I still have those $800 in my bank account,” a reaction read. “For $800, it better have felt like being born again,” said another. “$800? Nah, fam. I’m good. No meal is worth that,” a reader wrote. For context, the review indicated that they were a group of four. They ordered special dishes and cocktails, and “ended up spending just under $800.”
