BROOKLYN, Ohio -- Residents in Parma Sun Post communities will be deciding a variety of races and local issues on the Nov. 4 ballot. Here’s a quick look at what voters can expect on Election Day: BROOKLYN Brooklyn City Council has four open four-year-term Council-at-Large seats with incumbents Aaron L. Borowski, Andy Celcherts, Kathleen M. Pucci and Kevin Tanski seeking reelection, along with former City Council candidate Cindy Woide. The Brooklyn Board of Education race finds three candidates vying for two open four-year-term seats with incumbents Jason Hubbell and Kelli Krall challenged by Justin Fincham. PARMA There are a few Parma City Council ward races, including in Ward 3 where John Soeder (D) -- who was appointed earlier this year -- faces nonpartisan Dale K. Dotson. Ward 7 incumbent Kammy Shuman (D) is once again being challenged by Danielle Downs (R). Ward 8 incumbent Amanda Boyd (D) is being challenged by Robert Porvasnik (R) and Debbie Tabasso (nonpartisan). Ward 9’s Robert B. Euerle (nonpartisan) will face off against Andy Schofield. Running unopposed are Council President Vito Dipierro (D), Ward 1’s Monica Wilson (D), Ward 2’s Deborah A. Lime (D), Ward 4’s Kelly M. Zacharias (D), Ward 5’s Allan Divis (D) and Ward 6’s Kevin C. Kussmaul (R). Also up for reelection without competition is Parma Treasurer Thomas Mastroianni. PARMA CITY SCHOOLS The race for Parma City Schools Board of Education finds candidates Leah Euerle, Nick Reyes and Tammie Sebastian running unopposed for the three open seats. Voters in Parma, Parma Heights and Seven Hills will also decide the school district’s Issue 49, which, if passed, would cost a $100,000 homeowner $20.13 a month. The 10-year, 6.9-mil operational levy would raise $23,131,939 annually. Parma City Schools last passed a new money operating levy in 2011. PARMA HEIGHTS The Parma Heights mayor and council races find all incumbents running unopposed. This includes Mayor Marie Gallo, as well as Ward 1’s Lisa Maruschak, Ward 2’s Lesley Ann DeSouza and Ward 3’s Tom Rounds. Also, Ward 4’s Steven Vanek, who was appointed earlier this year, doesn’t have competition. SEVEN HILLS The same goes for the Seven Hills City Council election, which finds incumbents unchallenged -- Council-at-Large members Justin Costanzo, Patrick Elliott and Stacey L. Kelly, as well as Ward 1’s Phillip Kiriazis, Ward 3’s Tom Snitzky and Ward 4’s Michael R. Morrow. In Ward 2, Norman Martin is not seeking reelection with Brian Kelley running unopposed.
