The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has referred 12 public institutions — including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Ridge Hospital — to the Attorney-General for prosecution over their failure to recover funds wrongly disbursed. The referral follows repeated non-compliance by the institutions, which failed to take corrective action within 30 days after being flagged in the Auditor-General’s report. During the Committee’s sitting on Monday, November 3, 2025, PAC’s Ranking Member, Samuel Atta Mills, expressed frustration at the persistent disregard for accountability rules. > “Those who hadn’t completed their assignments within 30 days—do they come back to you to explain why they haven’t done it? I recommend that those who haven’t complied be referred to the Attorney-General for prosecution,” he stated. Mr. Atta Mills singled out the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as one of the key offenders, revealing that the facility has yet to recover unearned salaries amounting to GH¢3 million. He further mentioned the Regional Health Directorate of Agona East and the Amansie South District Health Directorate among those being cited for failing to address financial irregularities, including outstanding Tier Two pension contributions.
