A Scottish dog owner got more than she bargained for when a routine vet visit revealed that her beloved West Highland Terrier, Bonnie, had been “naughty.” In a now-viral TikTok video posted by Sharon, who didn’t give her surname, the cheeky white pup was seen trotting to the vet with the on-screen caption: “Casually off to the vet to find out if I’ve been a naughty girl five weeks ago…” The video has more than 100,000 views on TikTok as Bonnie’s owner took her for a check up, only to reveal that she was expecting puppies. Sharon told Newsweek that the surprise wasn’t exactly part of the plan. “So basically, I own four Westies—Bonnie is five, Fara and Fern are three, and Roman is our one-year-old puppy,” she said. “We got Roman at Christmas as a new family pet but also as a stud dog for Fara or Fern when the time was right.” Bonnie, she said, has already had puppies before and was due to be spayed earlier this year. Then in September, Bonnie came into season—just as the family was busy with a home extension project. “Even though Roman was only ten and a half months old, I kept them separate and she wore nappy pants around him,” Sharon said. “But my husband popped Bonnie in the crate beside the others while he was doing a few jobs and, well… they clearly had their wicked way with each other.” First Signs of Pregnancy A few weeks later, Bonnie began showing signs that something was up. “She was sicky, off her food, and needing out for a pee three or four times a night,” Sharon said. “I assumed she was having a phantom pregnancy since she hadn’t ‘been with Roman.’” But after noticing Bonnie’s growing belly during a weekend getaway, Sharon and her decided to visit the vet for an ultrasound “just in case.” A picture of Bonnie’s scan, left, and Bonnie and Roman together, right. “And lo and behold, little Miss Bonnie is at least five weeks pregnant—with at least three puppies,” the owner said. The unexpected news led to Bonnie’s viral TikTok debut, which her owner initially posted just to update family and friends. “My dogs are very cute and I’m glad people are getting to see their wee faces,” she said. Bonnie’s litter is due in around four weeks, and homes for the new puppies are already lined up with people the family knows. “We’re excited to have puppies in the house again and to spread some of that Westie joy,” the owner said.
