OneXfly Apex Handheld Launched: AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 With Liquid Cooling, 128 GB RAM, 85Wh Battery, $1200-$2250

OnexPlayer has officially launched its flagship handheld, the OneXfly Apex, with a liquid-cooled AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 SoC. AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 Gets Liquid-Cooled Inside A Handheld With OneXPlayer's OneXfly Apex The OneXfly Apex handheld was teased last month and is positioned to be a flagship device featuring the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 SoC. This SoC has already been featured in other handhelds such as GPD Win 5 and Ayaneo Next 2. Now, OneXPlayer is rolling out its own high-end handheld, offering a nice upgrade vs the Ryzen AI 300 "Strix Point" stack. Just to recap the specs for the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, the SoC features 16 "Zen 5" cores, 40 "RDNA 3.5" GPU cores, lots of cache, and a 256-bit LP5X memory controller. In our tests, the chip delivered superb CPU & GPU performance, at 120W and even with reduced 54W TDPs. The chip on the OneXfly Apex gets liquid cooling support too, allowing the device to operate at the full 120W TDP. This cooling is provided by an external module, but OneXPlayer has stated that even with the built-in air-cooling, the Apex can still get up to 85-100W. The handheld also comes in various memory configurations with up to 128 GB LP5X-8000 support. These faster memory ICs enable faster performance, and with the ability to dedicate up to 96 GB of VRAM to the GPU, you can not only run AAA games at higher resolutions but also do AI tasks (up to 70B LLMs), which takes AI on handhelds on a whole new level. We should state that the XDNA 2 NPU on the SoC offers 50 TOPs of AI crunching performance. The cooling on the handheld is handheld by two fans which deliver up to 6.70 CFM of airflow while retaining silent operation. Four heat pipes make direct contact with the SOC, and the heatsink has a 47,200mm2 coverage area. The last component that makes up the internals is the storage solutions. The OneXFly Apex features a PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 slot supporting up to 7100 MB/s speeds, a PCIe 4.0 Mini SSD slot with up to 3500 MB/s speeds, and a TF expansion slot, which can support up to 2 TB MicroSD cards with up to 300 MB/s speeds. The whole device can support up to 8 TB of capacity. IO includes USB4 with 180W charging and PD along with a DC-in jack, USB 3.2 Type-A port, USB 3.2 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There's also a fingerprint reader. AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 External liquid cooling up to 120W TDP 85Wh external battery 8" 120Hz VRR native landscape display Up to 128GB RAM (96GB VRAM) + dual PCIe 4.0 SSDs Run AAA games & 70B LLMs locally with ease The screen on the handheld is upgraded to an 8" 120Hz VRR panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits of brightness, and 100% SRGB color gamut. That's more viewing real estate than the recently released Xbox Ally X handhelds. In terms of performance, the company shares a few performance metrics in 3DMark at various TDPs, which can be seen below: 3DMark TimeSpy DX12 performance: 25W: 4083 55W: 9035 80W: 10518 120W: 12146 Besides synthetics, the console offers stunning performance in a range of AAA games, such as 120 FPS in Black Myth Wukong (Low), 158 FPS in Forza Horizon 5 (High), and 100 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 (Ultra) without any upscaling at 1080p. The company did share a demo of Cyberpunk 2077 running on the console a few days ago, which you can check out below: The handheld comes with an external 85Wh battery pack that connects seamlessly to the back of the Apex handheld. There's also an 85Wh battery internally. Audio comes in the form of dual HARMAN "AudioEFX" certified speakers. Pre-orders go live tonight at JD.com and other retail outlets in China. The prices are as follows for the four configurations: OneXFly Apex (MAX 385 32G+1TB) = 8599 RMB ($1209 US) OneXFly Apex (MAX 395 48G+1TB) = 9999 RMB ($1406 US) OneXFly Apex (MAX 395 64G+2TB) = 11999 RMB ($1687 US) OneXFly Apex (MAX 395 128G+2TB) = 15999 RMB ($2250 US) Battery Pack: 399 RMB ($56 US) External Liquid-Cooling Case: 999 RMB ($140 US) Protective Case: 199 RMB ($27.99 US) Travel Battery Base: 169 RMB ($23.77 US)
