Nurse 'rapes patient, 17 in hospital' after he's filmed entering her room 8 times in night

A mental health nurse allegedly raped a teenage patient at the hospital he was working, after he was spotted entering her room eight times in one night. Michael Cabanalan, 35, has been charged with second-degree rape and other horror sex offences after he allegedly sexually attacked the 17-year-old at a psychiatric hospital in Baltimore County, in the United States. Police said the former health worker asked the victim for her phone number and Instagram information on September 4, according to charging documents. He was then seen regularly going into her hospital room, where there were no surveillance cameras, where he allegedly raped her. Police said the victim had mental disabilities that meant she was unable to consent to sex. The 17-year-old was discharged from hospital four days later, on September 8, but Cabanalan allegedly picked her up from her home. The health worker has been accused of driving the teen to his home, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her twice. Police said the teenager's mum discovered her daughter had left the home, without her knowledge, and tracked her down using an app. Cops added that the teen allegedly told her mum about the rape and sexual assault when she was confronted about leaving the home. The mum then reported the alleged incident to the Child Protective Services, who reported the claims to the cops and the Sheppard Pratt hospital, on September 11. The Sheppard Pratt hospital initially suspended Cabanalan, following the allegations, before removing him from his job altogether. Baltimore County Police arrested the 35-year-old on October 21. Sheppard Pratt, in a statement to CBS Baltimore , said: "The safety and well-being of those in our care is always our first priority and one that we take very seriously. When we were made aware of allegations against a former employee, we immediately reported it to law enforcement and appropriate agencies. "The individual was terminated, and we have been working with the various agencies in their investigation into these allegations and will continue to collaborate with them. "We are committed to a safe and therapeutic environment and continually review all procedures and safeguards to ensure the safety of those in our care remains a priority." Cabanalan is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Investigators at the Baltimore Country Police Department have urged possible victims or anyone with information to come forward and contact the cops.
