Josselyn, which started in 1951, provides mental health services to more than 8,000 clients across Cook and Lake counties. NORTHBROOK, IL — With a growing demand for accessible, high-quality mental health care across Cook and Lake counties, local residents believe organizations like Josselyn are continuing to make a real difference. That was evidenced by the recent "Cocktails for a Cause," the annual fundraiser for the Northbrook-based mental health center, that raised $360,000. With more than 200 supporters in attendance at The Glen View Club, the night was filled with signature cocktails, light bites, and meaningful conversation, according to organizers. Josselyn, which began in 1951, delivers therapy, psychiatry, and specialized mental health support to nearly 8,000 clients across 300 communities. The agency has clinics in Grayslake, Highland Park, Northbrook, Northfield, and Waukegan. Organizers tell Patch the event highlighted "powerful stories of hope and healing," including by Seamus Collins, Josselyn board member and president of Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Grin Lake Forest Hospital. Collins spoke about the growing partnership between Northwestern Medicine and Josselyn, "emphasizing how collaboration strengthens the ability to meet rising mental health needs in the community." In addition, Hilary, a young survivor of the Highland Park parade tragedy, told a courageous story of how she sought support from Josselyn in the aftermath of trauma. Over the past three years, Hilary has worked closely with her Josselyn clinician "to rebuild her sense of safety, confidence, and joy." "Hilary's journey reminds us why we do this work," said Susan Resko, Josselyn CEO and president. "Behind every number is a person, a story, and a renewed sense of hope. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we can continue providing life-changing mental health care, regardless of a person’s ability to pay." Organizers said Cocktails for a Cause was not only a celebration of progress, but also a call to action. Josselyn is nearing its ambitious fundraising goal, and there’s still time to help ensure mental health care is available for those who need it most.
