NISA said the operation was launched after receiving verified intelligence reports about militant activity in the area. The mission unfolded in three coordinated phases targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts and logistical sites. In the first strike, security forces raided a militant encampment, killing three fighters. Minutes later, a second phase of the operation killed four additional militants. The final phase destroyed vehicles and tents that the group had prepared for planned attacks against civilians and security forces. According to NISA, the intelligence-led raid successfully disrupted Al-Shabaab’s efforts to reorganize and stage future operations in central Somalia. The agency described the mission as a “precise and successful counterterrorism strike” that neutralized a local cell responsible for plotting assaults in Hiiraan. “NISA remains committed to pursuing Al-Shabaab wherever they operate and to preventing attacks against Somali citizens,” the statement read.
