Nico Harrison Makes Desperate Decision to Win Over Dallas After ‘Fire Nico’ Chants

It has been a difficult past few weeks for Dallas Mavericks GM, Nico Harrison. While it seemed like he might finally have a chance to come to terms with the Texas basketball community after the franchise landed Cooper Flagg during the offseason, their 0-2 start to the season did not let that happen. Although the Mavericks have finally clinched their first win of the season last night after back-to-back embarrassing defeats, it seems like Harrison is desperate to win over the fans, as a new update emerged today. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavericks have finally decided to honor the only other No. 1 pick in their illustrious history until this summer, Mark Aguirre, by retiring his jersey numbers. “Long overdue: The Mavericks announce they will retire Mark Aguirre’s No. 24 on Jan. 29 against Charlotte,” Stein reported. Aguirre, who was selected first overall back in 1981, will finally have his legacy honored by the franchise for which he suited up during the first eight and a half seasons of his 13-year-long NBA career. While it is a very special moment for the 65-year-old veteran, who has reportedly given his news this morning by Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont, it has been a long time coming. So, why did the Dallas front office decide to honor him this season after all this time? Well, many believe this is a last-ditch attempt made by none other than the franchise’s general manager, Nico Harrison, to present his good image in front of the Dallas fans. After all, the people have not been shy in expressing their disappointment with the Mavs GM.
