NEXTCHEM and “Uzkimyosanoat” to Develop Carbon Capture Project in Uzbekistan - UzDaily.uz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Brussels, within the framework of Uzbekistan Economic Day, NEXTCHEM and JSC “Uzkimyosanoat” signed a cooperation agreement to develop a carbon capture project in Uzbekistan. JSC “Uzkimyosanoat,” a state holding company uniting chemical industry enterprises, implements a strategy focused on innovation and the creation of modern production facilities to stimulate industrial growth. Under the agreement, the parties will establish a Joint Working Group to prepare a feasibility study for the carbon capture and storage project using NEXTCHEM’s NX Decarb™ technology. The initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s new state policy on industrial decarbonization. In the future, the parties plan to explore the possibility of jointly implementing the project with the involvement of other MAIRE Group companies at the design, procurement, and construction (EPC) stages, as well as in securing financing. Fabio Fritelli, CEO of NEXTCHEM, emphasized that the partnership with “Uzkimyosanoat” demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting the development of Uzbekistan’s energy sector through its broad portfolio of low-carbon technologies. “We are pleased to support ‘Uzkimyosanoat’ on its path toward decarbonization and to strengthen our industrial and technological presence in a strategically important region such as Central Asia,” he stated.
