SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) – Officials in South Carolina said an infant was surrendered to a hospital under the state’s Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act. The South Carolina Department of Social Services said the baby was surrendered in the Upstate. Officials said the baby was born at Spartanburg Regional Health System on Nov. 4, weighing 4 pounds 1 ounce and was 16.1 inches long. The baby was surrendered under Daniel’s Law two days later, officials said. The department said a Permanency Planning Hearing and a Termination of Parental Rights Hearing will be held on Dec. 18 at the Spartanburg County Family Court. Anyone who believes they have parental rights to the child is required to attend the hearing. This is the sixth Daniel’s Law baby surrendered in South Carolina in 2025.
