Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand will host Harry Brook's England in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Bay Oval on Sunday (October 26). The ODI series will mark Kane Williamson's return to international cricket. The former New Zealand captain hasn't played for the Black Caps since the 2025 Champions Trophy final, which took place in March. Williamson denied a central contract for the second time in June 2025. "I mean it's just ongoing communication with New Zealand cricket, Rob (Walter, head coach) and I'm grateful for that. For me it's a lot about the balance with family etc and time away but also the delicate balance of being a part of this team that I've really loved and enjoyed for such a long period of time. So it's great to be back and amongst the one dayers and we'll just keep sort of assessing what's next as we go," he said before the ODI series. While Williamson is back in the ODI team, the home team will be without the services of Kyle Jamieson. The right-arm pacer played 2 out of three T20Is before the ODI series. He will miss the ODI series due to stiffness in his left side. The three-match T20I series ended with England clinching the series 1-0. England scored 153 runs in the first game in Christchurch. NZ didn't get a chance to bat due to rain. England registered a big 65-run win in the second T20I at the same venue. A play of only 3.4 overs was possible in the third T20I before the rain resulted in a washout. The weather will remain clear on Sunday and it should be a complete 100-over game at Bay Oval. The three ODIs are scheduled to be played on October 26, 29 and November 1 in Mount Maunganui, Hamilton and Wellington, respectively.
