The following appointments, promotions and new hires at south Louisiana businesses and nonprofits have been announced in recent weeks. Baton Rouge Ursula White, an associate professor at LSU's Pennington Biomedical Research Center, has been elected as secretary/treasurer of The Obesity Society. White, who will formally start in the new role in January, is the director of the Adiposity, Lifestyle and Metabolic Health Lab. New Orleans Dale Revelle, a lifelong shipping professional, was sworn in this month to a five-year term as a commissioner for the Port of New Orleans. Gov. Jeff Landry appointed him as one of four representatives from Orleans Parish on the seven-member board. The longtime chief of Revelle Shipping Agency and current president of DSR Properties will also serve on the board of the New Orleans Public Belt. Louis "Jeff" Williams, a New Orleans native, was appointed as regional director of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East. Williams previously worked as the senior project manager for the local district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before the authority hired him as chief engineer. McGlinchey Stafford announced the promotion of two new members of its leadership team. José Cot, who began at the law firm in the 1980s and returned last year, has become the managing member of McGlinchey’s New Orleans office. Marcelle Mouledoux, who joined the firm in 2022, was named chair of its enterprise litigation and investigations practice group. Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann announced the hiring of two recent law school graduates. Henry Hamlett, who will focus on business litigation, is a graduate of the University of Alabama Law School. While in law school, he was a member of the National Environmental Moot Court Team, the Bench Bar Honors Society and the Anti-Human Trafficking Society. Landon Pettigew, who will focus on transactional law, is a Tulane University Law School graduate who was a member of the Tulane Law Review. He clerked for the New Orleans City Attorney's Office and played tuba in the LSU Golden Band from Tigerland while he was an undergraduate. Eyecare Associates announced the hiring of Nicole Songy to see patients out of its Uptown and Metairie offices. Songy, who focuses on ocular disease management and specialty contact lenses, earned a bachelor's in biological sciences from LSU and a doctor of optometry from the Southern College of Optometry. She completed an externship at the practice and training rotations at The Eye Center and the Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in Johnson City, Tennessee. Shannon Bruno Bishop, a district judge with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, has been sworn in to the board of directors for the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions. The nonprofit association is composed of government agencies and private sector professionals responsible for workers' compensation.
