First released in 2024, In Waves and War has been getting rave reviews on the streaming platform since it was added earlier this week. It is so good in fact that one viewer described it as 'the most amazing documentary they've seen in years.' The documentary's synopsis reads: 'Highly decorated Navy SEAL Marcus Capone returns from Afghanistan and attempts to readjust to civilian life. 'But years of unprecedented warfare have left Marcus with treatment-defiant PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and severe depression beyond what current government treatment options can effectively address. 'Fearing for Marcus' life, his wife, Amber, finds hope in a groundbreaking therapy combining two powerful psychedelics unapproved for use in the US, but with seemingly limitless applications.' First released in 2024, In Waves and War has been getting rave reviews on Netflix after it was added this week on November 3 The documentary is so good in fact that one viewer described it as 'the most amazing documentary they've seen in years' Fans have now been taking to social media to praise the documentary for its portrayal of PTSD and the unconventional method of treating the illness. They praised: 'Just watched the documentary called In Waves & War. So heart breaking what veterans have to go through post-service but this shows a different method of healing that is helping a lot of people. 'It's definitely more hopeful for healing trauma. Highly recommend on Netflix.; 'The most amazing Documentary that I’ve seen in years, In Waves and War. Brief Synopsis, it tracks 3 former Navy Seals with TBI and PTSD.' The film has also had critical success too and was described by Variety as a 'moving' and 'heartfelt look at a pressing social issue'. The unconventional PTSD explored in the documentary is psychedelic therapy, which is illustrated through animated segments to convey how it works. Following its success with the documentary's protagonist, Marcus, the film follows his attempts to introduce the treatment to other PTSD-afflicted veterans. Fans were equally complimentary about the documentary on the film social media platform, Letterboxd. The film has also had critical success too and was described by Variety as a 'moving' and 'heartfelt look at a pressing social issue' Netflix doc hailed as a 'must-watch' for 'fantastically authentic' accounts of mobster underworld One reviewer wrote in the five-star praise: 'Brilliant. Incredibly well done, I was so moved. 'I thought the story flowed so skillfully and the animation added so much. Such a good movie I really really recommend.' Another described the film as 'heartbreaking but hopeful.' They added: 'Strangely relatable film. 'I have never been to war, and I never will but man... 'Saw this at the documentary film festival. Incredible film omg just wow. Barely have the words to describe it.' Other fans, meanwhile, took to IMDb to share their thoughts on the documentary, where it is rated an impressive 8.5 out of ten.
