A New York man made the purchase of a lifetime, winning the top prize in the New York Lottery’s Bonus 50X scratch-off game, lottery officials announced. Joseph Wickham of Elmira, New York, claimed the $3 million prize and opted to receive a one-time lump sum payment totaling $1,308,513, after required withholdings, according to lottery officials. The winning ticket was purchased at College Ave. Convenient Mart, located at 1309 College Ave. in Elmira. Elmira is in southern New York, near the Pennsylvania border. As of this writing, two of the $3 million top prizes on the Bonus 50X scratch-off game remain unclaimed. Valid lower-tier prizes may be claimed until their expiration date. Players may check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off by downloading the Game Report at https://nylottery.ny.gov. New York’s scratch-off games generated $4.34 billion in total sales during fiscal year 2024–2025. School districts in Chemung County received $21.68 million in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
