The MTG x Avatar The Last Airbender expansion releases in November 2025, and with it some truly phenomenal cards. While Korra fans will be disappointed that it only focuses on the original story of Aang and his friends, Wizards of the Coast has stated that if you want the Book of Korra, you’ll have to make your desire for that known. However, today we’re focused on some great spoilers that we got to peek at ahead of the upcoming spoiler season.I’m going to focus on the cards that were new to us in that preview, as we saw a few of the cards teased back in August 2025. There may be a little overlap, but if so, that’s just because it’s worth looking at a second time. If you want to know what to expect in the Avatar The Last Airbender MTG set, here are some amazing spoilers.MTG x Avatar The Last Airbender spoilers reveal fantastic heroic characters and momentsThere are so many amazing cards in the MTG x Avatar The Last Airbender expansion, if this set of spoilers is anything to go by. There will be several different versions of characters in this set, like the Spider-Man set before it, but I think this one will be received better. It doesn’t just feel like random Spider-Men. Each card specifically covers a different part of the story, and that characters’ growth. There are some fantastic transforming cards in this upcoming set (Image via Wizards of the Coast)Aang, at the Crossroads // Aang, Destined Savior is one of several cards for the titular Avatar, and it’s a doozy. A GWB Human Avatar Ally, you can put a creature card with mana value 4 or less from the top 5 of your deck into play when he enters. Then, when another creature you control leaves play, you transform him into Aang, Destined Savior during your next Upkeep. Then he becomes a 4/4 with Flying, Land creatures gain Vigilance, and you Earthbend 2 every turn. That means you can just keep cranking out attacking, aggressive Land creatures with no real downside. There’s also the incredibly simple but powerful Toph, the Blind Bandit, who has power equal to the number of +1/+1 counters you have on lands, which also Earthbends when it comes into play. That way, she at least has a 2/3 statline, but will likely be much better.Leaves from the Vine will always make me sad when I think about it (Image via Wizards of the Coast)Iroh, Grand Lotus is a GUR that gives your non-Lesson instants/sorceries Flashback, and gives each Lesson card Flashback 1, which is amazing. The flashback for non-Lessons cost is equal to the original mana value, so you’re still able to get lots of recursion, though those cards will be Exiled after you Flashback cast them. Speaking of Iroh, what Avatar fan doesn’t get misty-eyed when Leaves from the Vine is mentioned? It’s also a low-cost, high-value Saga.Step 1: Mill three cards, then create a Food tokenStep 2: Put a +1/+1 counter on up to two target creatures you controlStep 3: Draw a card if there’s a creature or Lesson card in your graveyardAnother great aspect of the MTG x Avatar set is that it also highlights some of the former Avatars, like Avatar Kuruk. He also begins as a Saga, where you Scry 2, then draw, and then exile it to create the creature form that comes back into play.Avatar Kuruk creates 1/1 Spirits that can’t block or be blocked by non-Spirits, anytime you cast a spell, which is pretty sinister for blue decks. Then, it has, for Waterbend 20, Take an extra turn (Exhaust). You can only do it once, and you have to tap a ton for it, but it could definitely be worth it.MTG x Avatar The Last Airbender features cute, cuddly, but powerful hybrid monstersDragonfly Swarm and Badgermole Cub are just fantastic cards (Image via Wizards of the Coast)Avatar The Last Airbender is known for its cute, but dangerous hybrid animals, and MTG represents those with some fantastic cards as well. Badgermole Cubs make creatures that tap for mana tap for an additional green, and also Earthbends when it comes into play. Badgermoles also Earthbend, and give your creatures with +1/+1 counters on them Trample. Suddenly, all those lands are just a bit more dangerous. If you’re a Landfall fan, Rabaroo Troop gives a creature flying until end of turn when a Land enters play under your control. It also has Plainscycling, so if you have a second Rabaroo Troop already in play, you could ensure a decent, quick, Landfall trigger. Finally, there’s Dragonfly Swarm, for Blue/Red fans.A flyer with Ward 1, its power is equal to the number of noncreature, nonland cards in your graveyard. It’s not an uncommon thing to see in Red/Blue decks, but I’m glad we’re getting a fresh one, so those spell decks have another way to end games.MTG x Avatar The Last Airbender will also feature some notorious franchise villains (mostly Azula)Fans of Azula will get plenty of representation, worry not (Image via Wizards of the Coast)The MTG x Avatar set also has a lot of the more sinister villains from the cartoon; but let’s be honest, most of the best cards revolve around Azula. Azula Always Lies is an Instant Lesson that lets you choose one (or both):Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turnPut a +1/+1 counter on target creatureZhao, Ruthless Admiral is a throwback to the first part of Avatar, and his MTG card is pretty solid. A 3/4 with Firebending 2 (adds 2 red mana whenever he attacks), sacrificing permanents gives your creatures +1/+0 until end of turn. A great card for aggressive, sacrifice decks.Azula, Cunning Usurper is also great. She’s a Blue/Black with Firebending 2, and she exiles a nontoken creature an opponent controls, and a nonland card from the grave. You can then cast cards exiled this way as though they had Flash, and you can use any mana you’d like. Just imagine this with flicker! Then there’s Fire Lord Azula, who still has Firebending 2. This Grixis legendary copies any spell you cast while Fire Lord Azula is attacking. You can also choose new copies. I know a lot of that was Azula focused, but she is a very important villain (and has so many great MTG cards).Wizards of the Coast teases the MTG x Avatar Jumpstart boxes with some spoilersFor the fans of the Jumpstart packs, Avatar, like Lord of the Rings, will have some Jumpstart packs in this next launch of MTG products. Basically, you take two packs, put them together, and play with them! Each Jumpstart pack has a theme, and we’ve seen a handful of the upcoming cards. The Jumpstart set has some pretty spectacular cards in it (Image via Wizards of the Coast)Avatar Roku, Firebender, grants you 6 red mana anytime a player attacks, and until end of combat, this mana doesn’t leave as steps end. You can then use 3 Red Mana to give a creature +3/+0 until end of turn. It’s a great way to buff allies. Then there’s another Avatar, Avatar Kyoshi! She has Hexproof on your turn, and Earthbends for 8 on combat on your turn. That means you can make an 8/8 land, and then you can even untap it, which is better.Descendant’s Path is an MTG card in the Avatar set that lets you easily put creatures in play. . . sort of. During your upkeep, reveal the top card of your deck, and if it’s a creature that shares a type with other creatures you control, you can cast it without paying its mana cost. Otherwise, put it on the bottom of your deck. If you’re playing Shapeshifters, this is going to be too easy.Hei Bai, Forest Guardian is a great Bear Spirit, that lets you reveal cards from the top of your deck until you get a Shrine. Then you can put it into play! Then, for each legendary enchantment you control, you can put a 1/1 colorless Spirit that can’t block/be blocked by non-Spirit creatures, for 1 of each color mana. That’s pretty interesting, to be honest. There’s even more Ally support with Sokka, Swordmaster. A solid mono-white creature, they have Vigilance, and makes Equipment spells you cast cost 1 less to cast for each Ally you control. Then, when combat starts for you, you can give Sokka a piece of Equipment for free. That would be amazing in other formats, for sure.Check out our other MTG guides and featuresMTG x TMNT set details revealed: Release date, Turtle Team-uP, Commander deck, and moreMTG x Spider-Man review7 Best Commanders in MTG Edge of Eternities
