The mother of a 17-year-old La Romaine student claims he was drugged while at school, the young man rushed to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after consuming an unknown substance. According to a police report on the incident, the form five student of the La Romaine High School was seen by police officers attached to the school behaving in a delirious manner after ingesting an unknown substance, and was taken to the staff room where he fainted. Police reported that his mother was contacted, and the child was rushed to the San Fernando General hospital, where he remains warded today. At least four other students, police said, had also consumed the substance, but were in stable condition. He was first treated in the ICU, according to his mother, but has since been moved out of that Unit and is in stable condition. She said doctors categorized his condition on arrival as a drug overdose.
