A shocking incident has emerged from Karnataka where BJP leader Vijayagouda Patil’s son, Samarthgouda Patil, allegedly assaulted a toll booth staff member after being asked to pay the fee. The altercation, which took place at the Vijayapura–Kalaburagi toll plaza, was caught on CCTV and the footage has since gone viral on social media. According to a report by NDTV, Samarthgouda Patil, who was travelling in a black Thar SUV from Vijayapura towards Sindagi, lost his temper when the toll worker asked him to pay the toll amount. “Do you know who my father is?” Karnataka BJP leader Vijayagouda Patil’s son Samarthgouda Patil thrashes toll staffer for asking him to pay toll fee & saying he doesn’t know who his father Vijayagouda was. Enraged by the question, Samarthgouda allegedly shouted, “Tu jaanta hai mera baap kaun hai?” (Do you know who my father is?) before attacking the toll employee. The assaulted staffer, identified as Sangappa, was allegedly beaten by Samarthgouda and his friends before other toll workers rushed in to stop the attack. The injured worker was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It is still not known whether the toll worker has filed a formal complaint. Additionally, the BJP has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Samarthgouda’s father, Vijayagouda (Vijaykumar) Patil, is a BJP leader who has contested multiple times from the Baleshwar constituency since 2008 but has yet to secure a victory. The seat is currently held by MB Patil, Karnataka’s Industries Minister.
