By DayakDaily Team KUCHING, Sept 27: An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident after colliding with a rigid lorry at Miri Airport Road today. In a statement, Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said that preliminary investigations found that the motorcyclist had collided with the rear of the rigid lorry, driven by a 44-year-old local man, which was stopped at a red traffic light along Airport Road. The motorcyclist, who was a local man, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.49am. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Those with information on the accident are urged to contact the investigating traffic officer, Inspector Mohd Faizul Ab Rahim, at 014-8582582 or 085-430479, or any nearby police station. “The public are urged to lodge reports immediately after an accident occurs. “Road users are also reminded always to practice safe driving and comply with traffic rules and regulations to prevent endangering themselves and other road users,” he said. — DayakDaily
