Tourism Minister R. Rajendran and Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister M. Mathiventhan inspected the special medical camps held under the ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin’ scheme in Salem and Namakkal districts, respectively, on Saturday. Mr. Rajendran inspected the camp held at the Government Higher Secondary School at Nalikkalpatti in Panamarathupatti taluk. He inspected the facilities provided to the public in the camp and distributed differently abled identity cards to 48 beneficiaries, wheelchairs worth ₹16,500 to two differently abled beneficiaries and hearing aids worth ₹6,750 to two differently abled beneficiaries. Mr. Rajendran told reporters 14 medical camps were conducted until Saturday in Salem district under the ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin’ scheme, benefiting a total of 21,848 people (9,436 men and 12,412 women). As many as 17, 227 people underwent blood tests, EGC tests (15,042), ultrasound scan tests (2,166), echo tests (2,318) and X-ray examinations (1,769), the Minister added. The Minister was accompanied by District Collector R. Brindha Devi, Joint Director (Medical Services) Nandhini, District Health Officer Yoganand and officials from concerned departments. Similarly, Minister Mathiventhan inspected the camp held at Karkoodalpatti Government Higher Secondary School in Namagiripet, along with District Collector Durgamoorthi and officials. The Minister said that in Namakkal district 48 medicals will be conducted under the ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin’ scheme, including three camps each in 15 taluks and three camps in Namakkal Corporation limits.
